Self-hosted team chat

Your company chat, on your own servers.

Channels, threads, calls with recording, whiteboards and big-file transfers in one app you install on your own server. No per-seat fees, and nothing stored anywhere you didn’t choose.

Unlimited people · every feature · from $150 a month per install

Your company’s conversations shouldn’t live in someone else’s building.

Every message, file and recording your team makes is company property. Smack keeps it where you can point to it.

One install

One install. Four subscriptions gone.

Chat, client meetings, call recording and big-file transfers usually mean four bills from four vendors. Smack does all four, on your own server.

Three promises we put in writing.

  1. Clause 1

Your data stays at your address.

Messages, files, recordings and logs live on your server and in your storage, in the country you choose.

  2. Clause 2

    You hold the keys.

You create every account, decide who sees each channel, and choose where people can sign in from. Every admin action is written down.

  3. Clause 3

    Leaving is clean.

When someone leaves, one click ends their access, their meetings and their file links. If you ever leave us, your data was never ours to keep.

A letter from our CEO

smackWolfiz · October 2026

Hello,

We built Smack because we needed it. At Wolfiz we ran on hosted chat for years. We paid for every seat, recorded client calls into someone else’s cloud, and sent big files through yet another service. Every new hire made the bill bigger, and every leaver meant checking four admin panels.

So we built one place for all of it, and put it on our own server. Our team works in Smack every day, and we fix what annoys us, release after release.

Here is what we promise you. We will never charge per person. We will never hold a feature back for a bigger plan. Your messages live on your server, not ours. And we will tell you plainly what Smack doesn’t do yet.

If you want to know whether Smack fits your company, write to me. I read every email.

CEO, Wolfiz

Questions

Before you call us.

Do we need an IT person?

It helps to have someone who is comfortable with a Linux server. If you don’t, our installation service sets Smack up and walks your admin through day one. Your team can be working in Smack the same day.

What server do we need?

A Linux server with 4 vCPU and 8 GB of memory runs Smack with recording on.2 Larger teams and more recordings at once need more. We size it with you before you buy.

Is there a per-user fee?

No. Every plan includes unlimited people.

Where are our files stored?

In your own storage: on the same server, or in an S3-compatible bucket with a provider and region you choose.

Can clients join meetings without an account?

Yes. They open your meeting link, type their name and wait for you to let them in.

Do you have mobile apps?

Not yet. Smack works in mobile browsers.

Can we try it?

Yes. We set up a 30-day evaluation install with you.

What happens if we stop paying?

Your data stays on your server, always. Smack keeps running; you stop getting updates and support.
