Install Smack on your Mac or PC

Download the desktop app from your company’s Smack server, connect it and decide which channels may notify you.

  1. Step 1: Download.

    In Smack, open your account menu and choose Download desktop app, or use /download.

  2. Step 2: Install.

    Open Smack-mac.dmg and drag Smack to Applications, or run Smack-windows.exe.

    Tip:On a Mac: The first time you open Smack, macOS may block it because it was downloaded from the web. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. On Windows: If SmartScreen shows a warning the first time, choose More info, then Run anyway.

  3. Step 3: Connect.

    Enter your company’s Smack address.

  4. Step 4: Sign in and allow notifications.

    Sign in as usual, then choose Enable when Smack asks about notifications.

  5. Step 5: Tune the noise.

    Set noisy channels to Mentions only.

That’s it.

Smack sits in your Dock or taskbar, shows a badge for what’s new, and updates from your company’s server.
